About the Role

We are looking for a Digital Content Controller to join our Publishing & Content Operations team within the Group Operations Division on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is to oversee the preparation, conversion, loading, QA, and publication of digital content for assigned online products and journals, ensuring it is of appropriate quality, on schedule, and to budget. The role will assist with the planning and execution of new digital content production approaches and publication events, and ensure availability of content materials to support the development of new digital outputs, including sites on the online platform(s). The role is also responsible for scheduling and reporting on digital content production and managing supplier performance.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Oversee the comprehensive production and/or conversion of assigned product content for digital outputs, including publication online and downstream re-use, to an appropriate format and quality, within agreed costs and timescales. This includes journal, book, and database content.
  • Manage the performance of third-party suppliers to deliver digital content to agreed budgets, standards, and timescales; resolve queries and provide training and support as needed; evaluate monthly supplier quality reporting and foster ongoing improvements in performance.
  • Collaborate with other teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve content errors and queries that are varied in nature, relying on analysis and experience to inform solutions. Manage expectations of diverse stakeholder groups through challenging issues, including situations where consensus on next steps may not be immediate, or where clarification on technical matters may be required.
  • Perform or assess root cause analysis and proactively address recurring issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate solutions are implemented.
  • Manage new journal launches and transitions of journals to and from other publishers, including content conversions, data rework, and taxonomies.
  • Manage content feeds to third parties and data provision for licensing partners.
  • Ensure the quality of digital content, by helping to define standards, maintain QA tools and procedures, and manage supplier production processes, documentation, and feedback. Work with the Content Engineers to update TCI and QA rules for assigned products including dissemination to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to large-scale digital content developments such as platform migrations and the introduction of new technology and tools, as well as ongoing continuous improvement projects. Project manage content migrations, conversions, and content tool testing.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation.
  • Maintain version of record for all assigned products by ensuring digital content is archived in appropriate content management systems
