Description

Purpose of the role:

To work with the Deputy General Director and other Senior Technical Management team (Head of Production & Head of Costume & Wigs) in delivering the highest technical standards and ensuring the technical support to enable the realisation of the company’s artistic vision.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Planning and scheduling: Lead the ON technical touring department in ensuring that all ON productions are supported, working alongside the production team to produce and maintain budgets and schedules relating to staffing and technical resources. Attend planning meetings, produce monthly/weekly schedules, oversee departmental schedules, liaise with Company Management, plan technical touring aspects.
  • Financial: Prepare operational technical department budgets, monitor seasonal staffing budgets, liaise with DGD and finance department, manage venue contra accounts.
  • People Management: Be part of senior technical management team, manage recruitment, ensure training, carry out annual performance appraisals, support unions.
  • Operational Management: Manage Health and Safety (IOSH, LOLER, COSHH, manual handling, working at height), represent technical management, be main contact for venue liaison, facilitate non-theatre events.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in large scale Technical Management
  • Proven experience in a senior management role or head of department
  • Excellent technical skills with thorough understanding of current/future equipment needs across technical theatre, touring experience an asset
  • Experience in complex scheduling tasks
  • Resource and budget management, staffing/employee terms, working practice agreements
  • Training in H&S management and knowledge of H&S requirements for a producing theatre
  • Ability to read and analyse technical drawings and experience of CAD
  • Awareness of GDPR and EDI regulations
  • Functional/leadership competencies: manage and motivate staff, stakeholder management, communication, teamwork, proactive, IT literate (Word, Excel, ACAD), ability to travel to touring venues in the UK

Terms and Conditions:

  • Contract type: Full-time, permanent
  • Salary: c£54,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Hours of work: 35 hours per week
  • Holiday entitlement: 33 days inclusive of 8 statutory holidays, per annum
  • Pension: [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] will automatically enroll you into the company pension scheme; after 3 months' service contributes equivalent to 5.5% of your basic pay; personal contribution of 2.5%
