Senior Occupational Therapist
We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with a strong interest in adult mental health to work on the acute ward's at St Charles MH Hospital. You would be joining a team of band 5 & band 6 Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy apprentices & activity co-ordinators led by our Band 7 Acute Lead OT's.

Main duties of the job
- Provide clients and the MDT on the Treatment ward with an occupational therapy service using MOHO and other evidence-based assessment tools.
- Establish baseline functional assessments to determine ongoing care and treatment.
- Apply high level understanding of mental illness and physical conditions; provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations.
- Manage a caseload of service users with complex, severe and enduring mental health needs.
- Provide leadership for junior/unqualified staff through supervision and appraisal.
- Act as fieldwork educator to students on practice placement.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
- Essential: Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy, HPC registered Occupational Therapist.
- Desirable: Post qualification training in relevant mental health therapeutic skills, Fieldwork Educators accreditation.
Previous Experience
- Essential: Significant post qualification experience in adult mental health settings, experience with complex mental health conditions, MDT working, group protocols, supervision of students/non-qualified staff, partnership working, risk assessment.
- Desirable: Audit/research projects, facilitating courses/workshops, supervision of qualified OT staff.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
- Essential: Individual and group work skills, understanding of risk assessment and risk management.
- Desirable: Knowledge of trauma informed approach, sensory integration.
Other
- Essential: Clear demonstration in application form of understanding of the role.
