Job Summary
The post holder will work at an enhanced level of practice utilising highly developed post graduate ultrasound experience, knowledge and skills in sonographic imaging and diagnostic reporting. The post holder will assist in the day-to-day operational management of the sonography team, department, providing effective leadership.
Main Duties
- Be part of the ultrasound team in providing an effective and efficient ultrasound service.
- Carry out a wide range of complex clinical duties, acting on own initiative, using professional, analytical and reasoning skills.
- Act as an autonomous practitioner carrying out a wide range of complex general scans and reporting without routine input.
- Communicate highly sensitive information to patients and clinicians.
- Travel across sites to cover lists and provide managerial support.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Essential: Evidence of wide range of general medical scanning, ability to demonstrate existing ultrasound skills (abdominal/gynae/small parts/neck MSK), evidence of active CPD, excellent sonographic skills.
- Desirable: Able to demonstrate existing ultrasound knowledge, previous senior experience.
Qualifications and Training
- Essential: Post graduate UK accredited qualification in General Medical Ultrasound from UK university or comparable, minimum 2 years recent experience, relevant first level qualification, HCPC registration.
- Desirable: MSc in Medical Ultrasound, State registration.
Personal/Professional Attributes
- Essential: Good interpersonal skills, ability to converse in accurate spoken English, decision making skills, leadership and supervisory skills, effective communication.
