[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Department Manager to lead the nursing and dental nursing workforce in the Oral Maxillofacial and Orthodontic Outpatient Department at Gloucester Royal Hospital. This permanent, full-time Band 7 role offers a salary of £49,387 to £56,515 a year (pro rata if part-time) and requires active professional registration (NMC/HCPC/GDC) with leadership experience at Band 6 or above.

Main Duties
- Provide visible clinical and operational leadership within the department, acting as a role model for professional practice and patient-centred care.
- Lead on patient safety, quality, and risk management, ensuring incidents and complaints are investigated appropriately.
- Manage the nursing and dental nursing workforce, ensuring safe staffing levels, skill mix, competency, appraisal, and performance management.
- Oversee workforce planning, rota management, recruitment, sickness absence, and staff development.
- Collaborate with matron, consultants, and the multidisciplinary team to maintain patient flow and deliver service objectives.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, medicines management, health and safety, and Trust policies.
- Contribute actively to service improvement, audit, and quality initiatives.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Active registration with NMC/HCPC/GDC
- Management or leadership qualification or equivalent experience
- Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a nursing/dental nursing workforce
- Advanced clinical reasoning skills
- Knowledge of leadership styles and change management
- Strong understanding of clinical governance
- Knowledge of HR policies and performance management
Essential Experience
- Leadership and management experience at Band 6 level or above
- Experience of managing individuals
- Experience of leading and managing change in a clinical environment
