Job Summary
The Digital and Design Officer will work closely with the Communications Manager (Digital and Design) and the rest of the team to support the implementation of an effective internal and external Communications Strategy. The postholder will be responsible for producing resources for the Trust and its clinical services, alongside maintaining Trust channels and websites with appropriate branding and messaging. You will also be part of a team supporting one of the Trust's divisions and contribute to the overall divisional strategy.
Main Duties of the Job
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in graphic design
- Experience of a wide range of graphic design programmes, including Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience of brand development and extension
- Ability to develop creative campaigns and products for a range of services and audiences across all media
- Experience of content creation for online channels
- Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure
- Portfolio showcasing experience in graphic design covering print and digital design

Job Responsibilities
- To support the Communications Manager (Digital and Design /Goodall Division) with a portfolio of digital and design work for one of the Trusts divisions.
- Design a range of in-house materials including posters, leaflets and to support internal and external campaigns.
- To develop creative presentations, films, infographics, digital and other visual forms of information for use by the communications team.
- When in-house design is not possible, liaise with external design and print companies to ensure adherence to NHS identity guidelines and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] corporate design style.
- To take photographs for official purposes.
- To develop designs and digital assets for online use such as the Trusts external website, intranet site, social media and any specialised microsites.
- To create design templates where appropriate.
- To assist in the organisation of events at different sites across the Trust.
- To support with writing content for and regularly updating the Trusts public website including micro-sites and intranet pages.
- To produce patient information, working closely with services.
- To champion consistent use of the Trust logo and corporate brand, advising and monitoring use of the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] brand.
- To train and support other members of the communications team in the use of design software.
Person Specification
Education
Essential: Educated to degree level or equivalent in graphic design. Desirable: Recognised communications/marketing or public relations qualification.
Experience
Essential: Experience of a wide range of graphic design programmes including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and video software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro). Experience in a graphic design role. Experience in writing for a variety of media. Desirable: Experience in a communications team, NHS or other complex public service organisation.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential: Ability to develop creative campaigns, excellent communication skills, ability to manipulate images, photography skills, ability to prioritise workload, project management experience, proof reading skills. Desirable: Multi-tasking, teamwork, attention to detail, organisational skills.
