Team Leader - Patient Access
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Team Leader - Patient Access in London. This is a full-time, permanent position at Band 5 with a salary range of £38,488 - £46,852 per annum including HCAS. The closing date is 21 May 2026.
Job Summary
The post holder will be required to manage a team and will be responsible for the coordination of duties across that team. They will demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and supervisory skills, and work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team. They will support the Patient Access management team to deliver KPIs and provide a high quality administrative service to support patient pathways. They will ensure their team delivers an effective service to service users including clinicians, nurses, and other key staff groups.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will manage the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service. They will have responsibility for administrative processes, driving forward excellent customer service, line managing a team of administrators, organising workload, recruiting, inducting, training, and managing performance.

Job Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for efficient running of the administrative function.
- Work with the wider team to ensure quality standards.
- Develop new processes to improve patient experience.
- Create and prepare performance reports.
- Manage complex patient queries and complaints.
- Conduct annual appraisals and develop PDPs.
- Coordinate team meetings.
- Ensure adherence to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] policies.
- Oversee stationery supplies and budget.
- Coordinate patient pathways and elective access targets.
- Manage clinic templates and booking systems.
- Ensure theatre scheduling and capacity.
- Communicate complex and sensitive information appropriately.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential: Educated to degree level or equivalent experience; Junior Management qualification.
Experience
Essential: Operational managerial experience; staff management; working with clinicians; significant NHS experience; producing SOPs; experience with Patient Administration systems; complaints handling; budget management.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential: Proven ability in managing people and processes; ability to prioritise and delegate; work under pressure; identify improvements; good communication skills; knowledge of HR policies; ability to train staff.
