Job Summary
The East Primary Care Team is looking for experienced, organised and enthusiastic Receptionists to work in our Health Board managed GP Practice (Pen Y Maes Medical Centre, Wrexham). Previous experience of working within a GP Practice would be beneficial and knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is desirable, however training can be given. Multiple posts available. There is an expectation that the successful applicant will learn Welsh following appointment to the post.
Main Duties of the Job
- Booking appointments and dealing with patient queries
- Excellent communication skills and confident telephone manner
- Proficient IT skills including experience of Microsoft Office
- Undertaking a variety of administrative duties, including data inputting
- Working at other Health Board managed GP practices in the East area on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications
Essential: A good standard of general education, NVQ Level 2 in administration or equivalent qualification/experience
Desirable: ECDL, Word processing qualification (e.g. RSA 2, or equivalent experience)
Personal Attributes
Essential: Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team member without direct supervision; Flexible approach to the needs of the service including working at other sites when required
Knowledge
Essential: An understanding of confidentiality involved with post; Knowledge of a range of administrative processes
Desirable: Knowledge of medical terminology
Skills
Essential: Ability to input information onto a computer system with speed and accuracy; Ability to deal with a number of different tasks simultaneously; Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing; Ability to deal with issues on the spot
Desirable: Shorthand skills
Experience
Essential: Experience of using Microsoft office packages; Experience of working in a busy reception or office environment; Experience of dealing with the public on the phone and face to face; Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
Desirable: Experience of using an IT system (e.g. EMIS, Oracle, WPAS); Experience of working in a GP surgery or an NHS office environment
