ER Manager 3-Month FTC
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager for a 3-month contract in Portsmouth, UK. This is an office-based role (5 days per week) offering £27-£28 per hour plus holiday pay. Immediate start.
The Role
As Employee Relations Manager, you will oversee a broad range of ER activity, provide expert guidance on complex casework, support organisational change, and ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies. You will drive consistency, mitigate risk, and improve management capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading complex ER casework including disciplinaries, grievances, capability, absence management, restructures and organisational change
- Providing expert ER advice to managers and senior leaders on employment law, policy and risk
- Supporting and advising on investigations, hearings, and appeals
- Managing high-risk and sensitive ER issues, including escalation points
- Coaching and developing managers to build confidence and capability in ER processes
- Reviewing and improving ER policies, procedures and frameworks
- Identifying ER trends and providing insight to support business decision-making
- Supporting wider HR and change programmes as required
About You
- Proven experience at Employee Relations Manager or Senior HR Manager level
- Significant experience managing complex ER casework end-to-end
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice
- Experience advising and influencing senior stakeholders
- Strong risk management and decision-making capability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Previous public sector experience desirable
- CIPD qualification (or equivalent) desirable
- Available to work on-site in Portsmouth 5 days per week
