The role involves developing a professional rapport with patients, making appointments, completing administrative workflow tasks, and providing support to clinicians and managers.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for providing the first point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff. Requires proficiency in English, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under own initiative. Previous experience with EMIS Web software is desirable.

Job responsibilities
- Receiving and directing patients
- Handling telephone and general enquiries
- Making appointments and taking requests for home visits
- Taking messages
- Processing all forms of communication relating to patients
- Administrative workflow tasks on the clinical system
- Cash handling
- Data entry and recording, including scanning
- Assisting clinicians as a chaperone
- Providing administrative support to clinicians and managers
- Following health and safety procedures
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: GCSE English grade C or above. Desirable: RSA II typing/word processing or equivalent, basic understanding of Microsoft Office packages.
Experience
Essential: Previous experience of working in an office environment. Desirable: Previous medical receptionist experience, experience of using EMIS Web software.
