Job Summary
INTERNAL ONLY TO [Employer hidden] (NCIC) EMPLOYEES ONLY. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 6 within the Trust, to step into a Deputy Ward Manager role and further develop their leadership and operational management skills. The post holder will support the Ward Manager in the day-to-day operational management of the service, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality patient care is delivered within the community setting.
Main Duties of the Job
- Support the Ward Manager in the operational management of the service.
- Provide visible clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
- Assist in maintaining safe staffing levels and appropriate skill mix.
- Support rota coordination, absence management, and workforce planning.
- Undertake clinical supervision, appraisal support, and staff development.
- Monitor patient flow and support effective caseload management.
- Contribute to governance processes, audits, and quality assurance activity.
- Act up as deputy in the absence of the Ward Manager where appropriate.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse, with active registration.
- NST 307 or equivalent.
- Relevant training at level 2 or equivalent.
Knowledge and Experience
- Post registration patient care
- Able to deal with a continually changing workload.
- Teaching / mentoring.
- Relevant nursing duties
- Continuing professional development, with portfolio.
- NMC code of conduct.
- Results interpretation.
- Leadership
- Clinical governance.
- Nursing strategy
Skills and Aptitudes
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Extended clinical skills e.g. venepuncture, ECG interpretation.
