General Porter

Job Summary
To work as part of the operational team responsible for providing a comprehensive patient support service in the hospital environment. This will involve carrying out the following Facilities Management functions: movement of patients, consumable products, waste, furniture, medical equipment, gasses, beds, mattresses etc.; cleaning of all Portering equipment; delivery of blood products and responding to Major incident; allocating jobs to peers on a 'next person' basis; communicating to public, staff and peers; providing a high quality responsive, efficient and effective patent support service to wards and departments in [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] acting in a caring and professional manner.
A Full, Clean, UK Manual Driving license is essential for this post.
Main Duties of the Job
- Knowledge of Portering activities, Health & Safety policies, safe systems of work, and department rules
- Understanding of portering equipment processes and pathology procedures for blood products
- Check signing in sheets, record staff levels, allocate jobs on a 'next person' basis
- Produce blood track forms from the blood trac system and complete paperwork
- Manage Synbiotix (porter system)
- Training: Customer support services or equivalent experience to NVQ Level 2; mandatory training; on-the-job induction
- Experience: Working in a busy multi-faceted environment and team-based environment
