Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse who is able to demonstrate a high level of care working independently and alongside colleagues. This is a part time role, days and hours to be agreed with the need to hold a regular Saturday morning clinic.

Main duties of the job

  • Treatment of long term conditions
  • Wound care (ulcer and doppler, removal of sutures)
  • ECGs
  • Venepuncture
  • New patient medicals
  • Cytology screening
  • Contraception
  • Adult, child and travel vaccinations
  • Annual flu and covid vaccination clinics
  • Request pathology services
  • Chronic disease clinics
  • Assist GP with minor surgery
  • COPD, hypertension, asthma
  • Ability to record accurate notes

We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of 11 doctors, a GP trainee, pharmacists, nursing team, social prescribers, and a care navigation team. We also have an onsite pharmacy. Job responsibilities

To be responsible for the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The practice nurse will be responsible for several clinical areas such as health promotion, chronic disease management, health prevention, as well as supporting the management team in the reviewing of clinical policy and procedure.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of working as a practice nurse or community nurse
  • Experience of chronic disease management
  • Experience of autonomous working

Desirable

  • Knowledge of public health issues in the local area.
  • Awareness of issues within the wider health arena.
