Job Summary

Are you a Nurse or Pharmacist with an Independent Prescriber qualification and a passion for delivering evidence-based treatments in Substance Misuse? We are seeking dedicated professionals like you to join our team in Bradford. The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical skills, a strong knowledge of pharmacology, and the ability to autonomously assess, diagnose, and manage patient care. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Clinical assessment with or without prescribing a range of medications (including controlled drugs) to support recovery in line with national and organisational guidelines.
  • Prescribe cost effectively and according to best practice; provide prescribing information and advice to pharmacists, Shared Care GPs, and hospital staff.
  • Undertake service user centred assessments, care planning, monitoring, evaluation and reviews in practice and outreach settings.
  • Blood Borne Virus (BBV) management (risk assessment, pre and post-test counselling, testing and immunisation).
  • Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions (e.g. safer sex, contraception, nutrition and healthy living).
  • Promote and deliver immunisation against Hepatitis B in line with national guidance.
  • Contribute to maintenance of client clinical database; co-ordinate data entry and retrieval.
  • Liaise with pharmacists regarding supervised dispensing and prescription queries.
  • Share care with GPs for service users in Primary Care Extended Services.
  • Deliver clinical interventions across hubs and outreach as required.
  • Undertake continuing professional development including clinical supervision and performance appraisals.
  • Work in accordance with all relevant legislation and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s clinical governance policy framework.
  • Participate in audit process and implement findings.
  • Ensure serious incidents (including deaths in service) are reported.
  • Disseminate learning across the service and organisation.

  • Collaborate on clinical governance, review and implementation of policies.
  • Assist in national and local research projects as appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of policy and professional development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • First level registered nurse or registered pharmacist
  • Independent Prescriber qualified
  • RCGP Qualifications Level 1 (and 2 or willingness to work towards)

Knowledge/Previous Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook Office programmes
  • Experience of entering complex information onto an electronic / clinical database
  • Experience in delivering evidence based treatments in Substance Misuse
  • Previous experience of general health care assessment including BBV, and delivering health promotion/ harm reduction interventions
  • Awareness of social context of drug misuse
  • Understanding of primary health care complexities
  • Awareness and experience of audit principles
  • Understanding of drug misuse services available in public and voluntary sectors
  • Awareness of national strategies impacting drug and alcohol services
