Patient Pathway Assistant

Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for highly motivated and professional individuals to join the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] as Patient Pathway Assistants within our Prosthetic Rehabilitation Unit and Orthotics Department. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential administrative and clerical support to two dynamic, multidisciplinary teams comprising Consultants, Therapists, Prosthetists, and Orthotists.
Successful candidates will be based in either the Orthotics Department or the Prosthetic Rehabilitation Unit, with a shared responsibility to support one another and maintain continuity of service at all times. Main Duties of the Job
- Coordinating and scheduling patient appointments
- Responding to patient queries with professionalism and empathy
- Accurately recording and validating activity using PAS systems
- Managing the handling and dispatch of goods
- Liaising effectively with internal stakeholders to support clinical operations

Job Responsibilities
This role will primarily be focussed on supporting the Clinical Team within Prosthetics and Orthotics. Duties include: printing and sending of correspondence, chasing results, cashing up clinics, managing the shared department inbox, fully utilising clinics, recording and validating activity on PAS systems, and liaising with internal stakeholders. Good understanding of the 18 weeks referral to treatment (RTT) standard and waiting list management experience is desirable.
Person Specification
Communication & Relationship Skills (Essential)
- Able to communicate clearly and sensitively with a wide range of patients, in situations where there may be barriers to understanding.
- Able to work as part of a team, or autonomously in line with standard operating procedures.
Knowledge, Training & Experience (Essential)
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures, acquired through training and previous experience in an administrative environment.
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
IT Skills (Essential)
- Advanced keyboard skills, and competent in the use of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Previous NHS experience or healthcare setting.
- Experience of using a patient record system, e.g., Epic.
