Job Summary

Excellent career opportunity to become a registered Pharmacy Technician. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] are looking for 3 Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians to join our pharmacy teams at Furness General Hospital. This is a 2-year fixed term post. Salary: Year 1 - 70% of top of Band 4, Year 2 - 75% of top of Band 4. Minimum of 4 GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent in English, Mathematics and Science.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Study part-time day release at Kendal College for a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Upon completion, register as a qualified Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Work as a member of the Pharmacy team to provide safe, timely, appropriate and high quality pharmaceutical services for patients and staff.
  • Participate in providing medication for stock, in-patients and discharge.

Education and Qualifications

  • Essential: English, Maths and Science to GCSE level (or equivalent) Grade C or above
  • Desirable: NVQ2 in Pharmacy services or working towards

Experience

  • Essential: Recent experience of working within a pharmacy department in hospital or community
  • Desirable: Experience in Hospital Pharmacy

Skills, Ability and Knowledge

  • Essential: Good communication skills, written and oral; Good IT skills and familiarity with Pharmacy computer system; Attention to detail; Flexibility and ability to work accurately under pressure; Ability to cope with work, college and study
  • Desirable: Able to prioritise workload; Knowledge of the JAC Pharmacy computer system

  • Essential: Reliable, honest, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality at all times; Work well as part of a team or alone; Well motivated and enthusiastic and conscientious; Ability to work a designated shift pattern in line with the trusts 7 day working policy
