Job Description

The [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Data Warden to join the Prison Data Assurance (PDA) team. This is a generalist role responsible for supporting assurance activity on prison data to enable better outcomes. You will ensure data is available through metrics, reports and dashboards on the HMPPS Performance Hub, assure data accuracy, manage projects, maintain guidance, provide user support and line manage EO Data Warden Support(s). This role is open to existing Civil Servants only.
Key Responsibilities
- Making sure data is available to users through metrics, reports and dashboards on the HMPPS Performance Hub.
- Data Accuracy: ensuring data is understood and quality assured for reporting to ministers and stakeholders.
- Project work: Manage multiple pieces of work relating to prison data.
- Maintain and update guidance and technical notes.
- Presentations and upskilling of frontline staff and stakeholders.
- Providing user support on data queries.
- Line Management of EO Data Warden Support(s).
Required Experience and Skills
Essential
- Ability to work with stakeholders on data projects, managing expectations.
- Experience in assuring and identifying errors in large datasets and improving data quality.
- Experience supporting team member development and understanding of technical work.
- Ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences.
Desirable
- Experience using Excel to organise, assess and work with data.
- Experience of prison data systems or wider administrative data systems.
- Knowledge of the Government Data Quality Framework.
