The Opportunity

We are seeking an ambitious and driven Dispute Resolution Solicitor with 2–4 years’ PQE to join our growing and highly regarded team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who thrives in a litigation environment and who has a genuine enthusiasm for court work as a central and defining feature of their practice.

You will manage a mix of your own cases and matters where you support a more senior fee earner. As a team, we are collegiate and supportive, and you will have every opportunity to develop your own caseload and client contacts.

A key feature of this role is the opportunity to develop your court appearance work. We are particularly interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about advocacy and who are keen to pursue their solicitor-advocacy qualifications. Day-to-Day Work

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, and court documents
  • Managing pre-litigation strategy and negotiation
  • Conducting and attending court hearings and procedural diets
  • Leading client communications and case updates
  • Instructing and working with counsel

Development Focus

  • Progressing towards and undertaking solicitor-advocacy qualifications
  • Developing rights of audience in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session
  • Taking increasing ownership of client relationships
  • Contributing to business development and firm profile
  • Mentoring more junior members of the team

This role has been specifically structured to support a solicitor who wishes to develop as a solicitor-advocate. We are committed to providing significant court exposure from the outset, with a structured pathway towards the solicitor-advocacy qualification, as well as financial support for those exams.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Scottish-qualified solicitor with 2–4 years’ PQE in dispute resolution or commercial litigation
  • Demonstrable experience of, and enthusiasm for, court appearance work
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills
  • The ability to manage a busy caseload with commercial acumen
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with an aptitude for advocacy

Desirable

  • Active interest in solicitor-advocacy examinations
  • Experience of Sheriff Court and/or Court of Session procedure
  • Exposure to professional negligence, insolvency, or corporate disputes
  • Involvement in client development or legal networking activities
  • Experience instructing counsel and leading client teams
