Overview of Role
We are currently recruiting for a Regional Manager to join the Ground Operations team. The Regional Manager is responsible for managing a remit of airports and all [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] stations. Driving a cost-effective and punctual service for our passengers and people at all airports which [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] serve. The Regional Manager will be responsible for managing all third-party handling agents for the airports they are assigned for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. In addition to assuming overall management and responsibility of all [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] handling stations in the Island airports to ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with the company’s Ground Operations and Cargo Manual, CAA, DFT and regulatory requirements. There will be a requirement to travel around the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] airports in person at least 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for individual improvement of ground handling with delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) set annually by the Director of Operations.
- Responsibility for each assigned airport On Time Performance (OTP) above 90% for all controllable delays.
- Managing a target ratio set of Short Shipped or Damaged Baggage at each airport.
- Working with the customer service team on improvement of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Net Promotor Score.
- Ensuring excess baggage and all ancillary charge process is managed at airports with a target measurement set by the Director of Operations.
- Manage the successful relationship with third party handling service providers at the airports assigned to you including handling, PRM and Airports.
- Ensure weekly handling meetings with Station Manager, Front and Back of House team to ensure all areas of safety, compliance and all other metrics measured.
- Minute taking of handling meeting with clear actions and timescale for delivery.
- Oversight and management of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] paperwork and stock at all airports.
- Daily management and follow up of all controllable delays, ensuring the handling agents complete the required report with update on corrective action to be taken.
- Daily update of the Flying Start Action Tracker to be completed with delay information and corrective action.
- Minimum of 3 allocated airport visits per week.
- Conduct ground ops auditing and compliance checks on aircraft arrivals and departures during airport visits.
- Ensure Q Pulse is managed with safety reports applicable to your station detailing handling investigation and corrective action.
- Attendance at weekly operations meeting chaired by the Director of Operations.
- Attendance at Airport AOC meetings at all airports. Escalate to Director of Operations any circumstances where AOC has approval for change of contract or cost increase.
- Working with the team on management of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] GSE to ensure all in working order, serviced and maintained or replaced and or leased.
- Work alongside the Director of Operations to manage the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] station recruitment and backfill of positions.
- Deliver the ground handling training requirement at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] stations with oversight of initial and refresher training delivered.
- Participation with relevant airport authorities on emergency exercises and training as and when required.
- Management of allocated stations short shipped, damaged and pilfered bags through tracing and follow up with the airports and fault stations.
- Management of Videcom queries for each allocated airport and responsibility to follow up with Videcom on user system errors.
- Additional responsibilities in line with the airline business and operational needs.
Skills and Knowledge
- Education qualifications to demonstrate proficiency in English and Numeracy essential to communicate and respond on letters and e mail as a representative of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] professionally.
- Proficient in IT software, Microsoft Excel, Word.
- Ability to use flight scheduling software, ticket system, safety and compliance software and world tracer preferential.
- Ability to work as a team player
Attitude
The successful candidate must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, proficiency, reliability and can-do attitude. In addition to being capable and able to work in a high demanding environment which requires flexibility and adaptability. Ability to be quick thinking and react to individual and unusual circumstances that arise from time to time. The individual must be prepared to travel at least 3 days per week.
Training and Experience
- Airline experience essential in a similar role.
- Ability to be pro active and demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of structure and continuous cost discipline
- Experience of working in a management role previously
- Ability and experience working with third party suppliers
- Must be prepared to travel to the airports and represent [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] professionally.
