Job Description

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join our wonderful Nursery in New Malden. We have a strong family atmosphere, and we prepare children exceptionally well for their first steps towards preparatory and primary schools. Ideally, you will have worked in a similar role and hold a food hygiene certificate, however this is not essential as we can provide the training if you have the right attitude and you are keen to learn. Access to our school is easy as we are close to the Fountain roundabout and New Malden train station as well as the 131-bus route. We believe in recruiting and training the very best staff to meet the needs of all young babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers in our care, this extends to our support staff too. You will help our chef provide nutritious and varied food that encourages all of our pupils to eat a range of healthy food. Educating our pupils about good fresh food is a key part of our school day.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the chef with the preparation and presentation of meals and snacks
  • Serving meals or assisting pupils and guests to serve themselves
  • Ensuring that the kitchen, service areas and dining areas are clean and tidy to a high standard
  • Cleaning fridges, store cupboards and washing up crockery and equipment
  • Keeping up to date with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures
  • Attending all mandatory food safety and health and safety staff training
  • Ensuring health and safety regulations are followed at all times
  • Commitment to equality, diversity & inclusion
