Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time 40hrs, Monday – Friday

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group (ILG) a growing group of independent preparatory schools and nurseries are looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Officer, based at our head office in Stanmore. The purpose of the role will be to deliver a first class timely and accurate payroll service ensuring that each stage of the payroll process is successfully completed, and that all employees are paid correctly, having appropriate information provided to the pension schemes, HMRC and other statutory bodies in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the monthly teaching and support staff payroll from start to finish
  • To ensure all payroll data is processed accurately
  • To review source documentation, calculate and process all monthly variable payroll transactions onto payroll software
  • To process permanent payroll transactions (starters, leavers, salary and pension amendments, childcare vouchers etc.)
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on payroll changes
  • Processing of monthly statutory payments (SSP, SMP etc.)
  • Calculation and processing of ad-hoc deductions
  • Reconciliation of monthly payroll to accounting software nominal codes by nominal link
  • Reconciliation of statutory deductions
  • Prepare BACS payments files for approval in respects of salaries, pensions, PAYE, AOR etc.
  • Production and distribution of payslips
  • Produce and distribute all payroll documentation (P45, P60, P11D etc)
  • Manage all payroll queries
  • Process Court Orders and Attachment of Earnings Orders
  • Prepare and update annual staff budget as directed by the Head of HR
  • Ensure all employee payroll and personal data is accurate and up to date
  • Ensure payroll software is regularly updated
  • Ensure development and maintenance of the payroll system as system administrator

Person Specification

  • Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer, Payroll Clerk or similar role
  • Hands on experience with HRIS and accounting software
  • Strong Maths skills with an ability to spot numerical errors
  • Good knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
