Salary: £40,182 to £42,060 per year (plus London weighting)

The Post

We are seeking passionate and skilled Family Group Conference (FGC) Coordinators to join the Family Group Decision Making Service, which sits at the Front Door and works across all Children and Family teams. This is a pivotal role in supporting families to make safe and sustainable plans for their children through a strengths-based, culturally sensitive and family-led decision-making process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Family Group Conferences in line with FGC National standards and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s FGC standards of good practice
  • Engage and prepare families, professionals, and wider networks for participation in the FGC
  • Ensure the child or young person remains central to the planning and decision-making and ensure that their voice is heard/captured
  • Orchestrate and facilitate the (FGCs). Ensuring they are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and empowering
  • Actively seek feedback from participants at the end of the FGC
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to service evaluation and development
  • Be involved in promoting Family Group Conferences to the wider community, by attending school and community events to engage parents directly
  • Promote the FGDM ethos and principles and the FGC referral process to other teams
  • Be part of the weekly FGC Duty team rota: responding to agency and parent enquiries by email and telephone, making FGC parent information calls, attending online Family Network Meetings, and having a regular weekly presence in the office to ensure team accessibility

The Person

You will be an experienced practitioner with a background in social work, youth work, mediation, or family support. You will have:

  • A recognised qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Ideally you would have completed the Family Group Conference 4-day training run by the Family Rights Group or equivalent training provider
  • Experience working with families in distress or conflict with the ability to facilitate Group Discussions that are forward focused and remain centred on the needs of the child
  • Strong facilitation, written and communication skills
  • Experience of working creatively with children to capture their voice/lived experience
  • Travel is required and the ability to work flexibly across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] and occasionally outside normal working hours
  • This is a community based and in-person post that requires a high level of organisational skills and people skills
