This full-time role involves a 4-on, 4-off shift rotation with day and night shifts. Base salary £36,000 – £41,000 per annum plus shift premium and weekend enhancement.

The Role

We are recruiting Mechanical Engineers who will be responsible for meeting production needs in regard to engineering issues and breakdowns. This is a full time role based at our headquarters in Kendal. You will be expected to follow a 4-on, 4-off shift rotation. Day shifts run from 06:00 to 18:30, and night shifts from 18:00 to 06:30. No night shifts are scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform reactive and proactive maintenance on a variety of process equipment.
  • Carry out regular maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, where directed.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns across a range of equipment to provide minimal downtime.
  • Support Team Leaders and Production to facilitate production efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation to provide historical records of breakdowns and PPMs.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is kept maintained and up to date.
  • Operate in a safe manner adhering to Health & Safety best practice, ensuring at all times, any risk to self and others, is kept to a minimum.
  • Complying with safety procedures including but not limited to: adopting safe working practices, wearing the required protective clothing and use of safety equipment appropriate to the role.

What You’ll Need

  • NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent in Engineering Maintenance or Manufacture.
  • The job requires a time served engineer / fitter.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills and the ability to work within a multi-disciplined team environment of varying levels of technical experience.
  • Knowledge / Experience of working with controls, analysing faults, and providing solutions.
  • Experience of both reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to operational requirements.
  • Some knowledge/training in electrics and hydraulics would be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated and be able to work with limited instruction.
