About the Role

We are looking for an Associate Quantity Surveyor and Employer's Agent. This is a key leadership role within the business, combining Cost Consultancy, Employer’s Agent responsibilities and client-facing delivery across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will take ownership of projects from inception through to completion, acting as a trusted advisor to clients, while also leading and developing a small team of surveyors. We work in a number of different sectors including; residential, education, public sector, fire remediation, retrofit and more. Our projects range from £1m to £20m.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage: Cost plans and estimates, Tender documentation and procurement strategies, Contract documentation and reports
  • Manage post-contract duties including: Valuations, Variations, Final accounts
  • Act as Employer’s Agent on projects, leading delivery from pre-contract through to completion
  • Manage the contractual and commercial aspects of projects under JCT and/or NEC forms
  • Lead project meetings and act as the primary point of contact for clients
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to drive project outcomes
  • Lead and mentor a team of 2–5 Quantity Surveyors / Assistants
  • Review outputs and ensure high-quality delivery across projects
  • Support the development and progression of junior team members
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing clear and commercially sound advice
  • Present confidently to clients and stakeholders
  • Manage expectations and drive decision-making throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage Invoicing/Forecasting for projects under your control

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong background in cost consultancy / PQS environment
  • Proven experience acting as Employer’s Agent on projects independently
  • Experience delivering projects across residential, education, or public sector
  • Demonstrable client-facing experience, including leading meetings and presentations
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior staff
  • Strong knowledge of JCT (and ideally NEC) contracts
  • Experience with MEP Costing
  • MRICS (or working towards)
