Salary: £41,064 to £46,049 per annum (full time, fixed term)

About the Role

The School of Global Affairs at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Global Environmental History. This is a 1.0 FTE post for 12 months starting on 1 August 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, providing cover for a colleague on a Koch History Centre Junior Fellowship.

The successful candidate will be asked to contribute to teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate modules such as ‘Medieval and Early Modern Worlds’, ‘Human and Environment’, ‘Death’, and ‘Global Environmental History’. In addition, the candidate will make a more general contribution to History teaching programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, for example by supervising dissertations. The successful candidate may be expected to assume responsibility for various administrative tasks and will be expected to play a full role as a member of the History community at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].

About You

  • Experience of undergraduate teaching and ideally postgraduate teaching.
  • An active programme of research.
  • Completion of a PhD.
  • Research and teaching engaging with global histories and non-European cultures, particularly early modern period (c.1500-1800).
