We are looking for a GMS Manager to work in the Japan Practice in Tax, Global Mobility Services team working on a mixed portfolio of clients. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s Global Mobility Services (GMS) practice is a diverse and fast-growing area of our Tax business. We serve the biggest names in the Financial Services community, with high-profile engagements touching every corner of the world.
Our GMS engagement teams are “360-degree service oriented”, with tax technical, team leadership, and client-facing responsibilities as part of each successful manager’s remit. You’ll advise on complex people challenges, including future of work trends such as cross-border working, remote working and virtual assignments. Working alongside multi-disciplinary experts, such as tax, technology, immigration, and mobility administration services and using some of the best technology solutions in the market, you’ll have the support and tools to create opportunities for our clients – and for your career.
What will you be doing?
- Build, maintain and lead strong relationships with the clients.
- Working closely with the Central Co-ordination Teams, Social Security teams and Employment tax teams to ensure a proactive service delivery.
- Day to day contact for allocated VIPs and working closely with the Engagement Leaders to deliver an enhanced service to the VIPs.
- Ensuring clients are provided with up-to-date information on UK tax developments.
- Project management of advisory projects carried out for clients.
- Be involved in all aspects of cross border advisory - covering tax, Social Security, process, policy and efficiencies.
- Responsibility for managing the UK tax compliance and working closely with the Centre of Excellence
- Carry out arrival/departure briefings for senior assignees.
- Manage the day-to-day UK work and lead the junior team on these clients.
- Get involved in business development/proposals.
What will you need to do it?
- ACA/ATT/CTA qualified or equivalent
- UK Tax experience - working with Japanese Business
- Experience in expatriate tax services
- Fluent in Japanese & English
Experience and Background
- Understanding of Japanese professional practices and business customs
- Excellent written and spoken English as well as Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N1)
- Flexible approach to working hours/ job content.
- Attention to detail.
- Previous experience working in expatriate tax services.
- Energetic, committed, and ambitious
- High level personal responsibility and accountability for teamwork
- Ability to identify core issues, investigates, evaluates, and integrates information.
