Job Description

A hotel public area porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of a hotel’s common areas like the lobby, hallways, elevators, and entrance, greeting guests, assisting with luggage, providing basic information about the hotel and local area, and ensuring a welcoming and tidy environment for all visitors; they often perform tasks like trash removal, furniture arrangement, and general upkeep of public spaces while actively engaging with guests to address their needs and concerns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest interaction:
    • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and departure.
    • Assist with luggage carrying and escorting to their rooms.
    • Answer basic questions about the hotel and local attractions.
    • Provide directions and information about hotel amenities.
  • Public area maintenance:
    • Regularly clean and tidy the lobby, hallways, elevators, and entrance areas.
    • Vacuum carpets, dust furniture, and polish surfaces.
    • Empty trash cans and ashtrays.
    • Remove spills and debris promptly.
    • Ensure proper lighting and temperature in public areas.
  • Operational tasks:
