Summary
PCN Paramedic Practitioner / Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Independent Prescriber) – ARRS funded role. Based at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] within Coastal PCN. Permanent contract (subject to ongoing ARRS funding). Sessions: 2 days per week – Monday and Tuesday. Start Date: TBC.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Paramedic Practitioner or Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Primary Care Network in an ARRS funded role, based at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. The post-holder will work autonomously within a supportive GP practice environment while being fully integrated into the wider PCN multidisciplinary team. The role supports PCN DES objectives by improving access to care and reducing GP workload, while delivering high quality, patient centred care. The role includes undertaking home visits, managing urgent and same day demand, and supporting patients with acute and long term conditions. The post-holder will also be responsible for managing their own clinical workload, including referrals and results.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients in primary care
- Support delivery of PCN priorities and improved access in line with PCN DES requirements
- Carry out planned and urgent home visits across the PCN population
- Prescribe independently and safely within scope of practice and competence
- Initiate, manage and follow up referrals, ensuring appropriate onward care
- Review, action and communicate investigation results in a timely and clinically appropriate manner
- Manage acute, urgent and complex clinical presentations autonomously
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists and other ARRS funded roles
- Maintain accurate, timely and high quality clinical records
- Contribute to service development, transformation and continuous improvement
Essential Criteria
- Registered Paramedic (HCPC) or Registered Nurse (NMC)
- Qualified Independent Prescriber (as required under ARRS)
- Meets ARRS eligibility criteria for the relevant role
- MSc level qualification or equivalent advanced clinical practice experience (or working towards where appropriate)
- Experience working autonomously in an advanced clinical role
- Competent in managing own referrals, investigations and clinical results
- Willing and able to undertake home visits
- Excellent communication and team working skills
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working in primary care, community or PCN settings
- Previous experience in an ARRS funded role
- Knowledge of local services, referral pathways and community provision
