Project Engineer - CI-BOP Technical
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Project Engineer for the Civil Works Programme. This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role based in London, Suffolk, or Bristol.
About the Role
As Project Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme, reporting to the Technical & Engineering Manager. The role will primarily support activities within the Nuclear Island, working closely with relevant technical and delivery stakeholders. The scope is expected to evolve over time and may extend to supporting other programme areas.
Principal Accountabilities
- Support the definition, validation, and acceptance of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Technical Requirements and Specifications, working closely with EDF Nuclear Services and the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Design Authority.
- Manage and progress technical Open Points and Design Changes through [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] technical governance, including Replication Principles, Technical Direction Forum, No Change Committee, and Non‑Permanent Works Change Committee.
- Provide Design Technical Assurance across the end‑to‑end design lifecycle, ensuring [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] acceptance through structured reviews, surveillance activities, and formal approvals.
- Support technical risk management in accordance with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Risk Management Processes.
- Assist the Technical & Engineering Manager by providing technical input for Early Warnings, Compensation Events, Technical Queries, and General Communications from the design supply chain.
- Act as a key technical interface between the Design Supply Chain and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]/Responsible Designer stakeholders.
- Coordinate and manage technical interfaces with internal and external parties, including Site Establishment, Off‑Site Infrastructure, NI Programme, CIBOP Programme, and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] B.
- Ensure compliance with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Engineering and Design Management processes.
- Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver design outputs in line with contract schedules and the Integrated Work Schedule.
Knowledge & Experience
- Knowledge of design activities for heavy civil engineering structures, including reinforced concrete and structural steel, with familiarity with current design standards (e.g. British Standards).
- Proven experience in providing technical assistance and collaborative support within a delivery team.
- Experience working with specialist technical teams, including providing technical direction and oversight.
- Experience operating effectively within project delivery teams.
- Strong communication and engagement skills across multiple levels and stakeholders.
- Advantageous experience within the nuclear sector, particularly relating to safety‑related structures, systems, and components.
Qualifications
- Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in delivery or management of design of Civil Engineering projects.
- Ideally Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or working towards chartership.
