Appointed Person
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring an Appointed Person at Hinkley Point C. This role involves planning, supervising, and coordinating all lifting operations on site.
Responsibilities
- Develop and approve lift plans in accordance with LOLER and company procedures.
- Ensure all lifting operations are risk assessed and carried out by competent personnel.
- Liaise with site management, crane operators, slinger/signallers, and other stakeholders to coordinate lifting activities.
- Conduct pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure lifting equipment is inspected, certified, and fit for purpose.
- Monitor lifting operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and lift plans.
- Maintain accurate records of lifting operations and associated documentation.
- Report any incidents, near misses, or unsafe practices immediately.
- Provide technical support and guidance on lifting operations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.
Qualifications & Experience
- CPCS Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) – A61
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
- NVQ Level 5 in Lifting Operations
- CSCS Card
- SMSTS
- IOSH Managing Safely
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Construction or Engineering
- First Aid (desirable)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in lifting operations, including planning and supervising complex lifts, along with experience of Temporary Works Coordination.
- Proven track record of working with mobile and tower cranes, lifting accessories, and heavy plant.
