Apprentice Estimator (Sizewell C)
Apprentice Estimator position at Sizewell C, part of the Civil Works Alliance, learning to develop cost estimates for a major nuclear infrastructure project.
Job Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced Estimators to develop first-principles estimates for the Civil Works Program, ensuring every pound is accounted for.
- Review drawings and specifications to create costing sheets for materials, labour, and equipment—helping to shape the future of the project.
- Learn how to assess design options and value solutions, ensuring the project is both cost-effective and high-quality.
- Use industry-leading software like Candy Estimating Software and RIB Cost X to develop pricing and bills of quantities.
- Collaborate with project teams and the supply chain to understand methodologies and ensure estimates are realistic and achievable.
- Support presentations and negotiations, learning how to justify pricing to senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- Track changes to estimates and budgets as the project evolves, gaining hands-on experience in project management.
