Customer Service Assistant - Gates (CDS)

Salary: £25,300 rising to £27,400 plus Regional Allowance and Sundays. Training salary: £25,300 + Regional Allowance. Closing date: 19 May 2026.
About the Role
As a Gateline Assistant, you will often be the first and last person our customers meet. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting passengers with tickets, including checking them, general advice, and ensuring gates work.
- Providing the highest standard of advice, information, and service to customers.
- Delivering a safe, attractive retail station environment, including general cleaning and de-icing.
- Participating in safe running of trains and station environment by complying with procedures.
- Promoting relevant marketing literature and information.
- Standing for long periods, working weekends and bank holidays.
Experience / Skills
- Proactive customer approach with passion and ability to support the team.
- Exceptional levels of customer service, acting as a role model.
- Demonstrable experience of managing customers effectively in difficult environments.
- Effective communicator – demonstrated through application and assessments.
- Live in local area to be able to get to work and home.
- Able to make decisions in a customer-focused manner and carry out instructions.
