Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded in the Accounts IQ accounting system.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, helping to produce clear and timely reporting with meaningful commentary.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring differences are identified, investigated, and resolved.
  • Work with the Finance Manager on budgeting and forecasting processes, helping to build and maintain an accurate financial plan.
  • Assist with income reconciliation processes, ensuring strong controls and accuracy of reported income.
  • Support risk management and compliance activities, including VAT returns, regulatory reporting, and payroll review processes.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, accounting standards, and internal policies, building knowledge of regulatory expectations.
  • Assist with the annual audit process, working with both internal teams and external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls, particularly through better use of Excel and systems, as your confidence grows.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and wider team initiatives as the business continues to grow and evolve.

Qualifications and Experience

  • ACA qualified.
  • Practice-trained with hands-on experience across audit and/or accounts preparation.
  • Likely coming from a small to mid-sized firm where you’ve gained broad exposure rather than a highly specialised role.
