FULL DESCRIPTION

Registered Building Inspector

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is looking for a Class 2D Building Control Inspector for a 6-month contract in Essex. Hybrid working. Rate: £60 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation
  • Assess and approve building plans and applications
  • Provide professional advice to contractors, developers, and members of the public
  • Ensure all work meets required safety, sustainability, and accessibility standards
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed inspection reports
  • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders as required

Requirements

  • Class 2D (or equivalent) registration with the Building Safety Regulator
  • Proven experience working within Building Control, ideally in a local authority setting
  • Strong knowledge of current Building Regulations and associated legislation
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise effectively
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable)
