Temporary Environmental Health Officer (EHO) – Environmental Protection

Location: Lancashire (Council‑based role)
Contract Length: 6 months
Hours: Full‑time, 37 hours per week
Start: May 2026

We are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to join our Environmental Protection Team on a temporary basis. This role will cover a busy seasonal period and support service delivery while a permanent appointment is progressed.

The successful candidate will work across a varied Environmental Protection caseload, including (but not limited to):

  • Planning and Licensing consultations
  • Environmental Permitting inspections and complaint investigations
  • Anti‑Social Behaviour and Statutory Nuisance complaints (commercial and domestic)
  • Public health‑related complaints
  • Private Water Supplies

Working pattern:

  • Full‑time (37 hours per week)
  • Minimum of 3 days per week office‑based
  • Up to 2 days per week homeworking

About you:

  • Qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHRB/Chartered or working towards)
  • Proven experience in Environmental Protection within a local authority setting
  • Able to manage a diverse workload and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and investigation skills

This is an excellent short‑term opportunity for an EHO looking for a varied caseload within a supportive council team during one of the busiest periods of the year.
