About the Role
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] are currently partnered with a local authority in the Home Counties who are looking to appoint a Locum Civil & Criminal Litigation Lawyer on an interim basis. This position offers a broad and engaging caseload, covering both civil and criminal litigation, within a supportive and well-established legal team.
Responsibilities
- Handling a varied caseload of civil and criminal litigation matters
- Conducting and supporting prosecutions, enforcement and regulatory work
- Providing legal advice to internal departments on contentious matters
- Drafting legal documentation including pleadings, witness statements and notices
- Liaising with counsel, courts and external parties as required
- Managing cases from initial instruction through to resolution
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive in England & Wales
- Experience in litigation, ideally within a local authority or public sector setting
- Exposure to prosecution and enforcement work is desirable
- Ability to manage a caseload independently
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Contract Details
- Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience)
- Hybrid working available
- Initial 3–6 month contract with strong potential for extension
- Flexible start date
