IT Consultant (Identity & Access / Active Directory)
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per annum + Benefits
Location: Remote / Home Based - with occasional travel to customer sites UK-wide and the Bristol office when required
Job Type: Full-Time, 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Job Description
Join a growing consultancy team delivering Active Directory, identity management, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and IT infrastructure solutions. This role offers hands-on experience in enterprise migrations, cloud identity, and digital transformation projects.

This position is officially known within the organisation as an Associate Consultant (Identity & Access).
Duties
- Support AD Migrations: Assist with Active Directory migrations, consolidations, and restructures
- Implement Infrastructure: Configure domain controllers, replication, DNS, and core infrastructure services
- Manage Group Policy: Design and troubleshoot OU structures and Group Policy configurations
- Execute Migration Waves: Support pilots, cutovers, and validation activities
- Troubleshoot Identity Issues: Resolve authentication, directory, and policy-related problems
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with infrastructure, security, and application teams
- Maintain Documentation: Produce build notes, validation evidence, and technical records
- Support Entra ID Integration: Assist with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) synchronisation and identity management
- Follow Runbooks: Execute and improve structured delivery processes and checklists
- Provide Hypercare Support: Assist during early life support following project delivery
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience supporting Active Directory migrations and restructures
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory including domains, forests, trusts, DNS, and replication
- Experience using migration tools (e.g., Quest) for staged migrations and reporting
- Proven experience with Group Policy, OU design, and delegated administration
- Experience in identity management and directory object clean-up and remediation
- Ability to follow structured processes, runbooks, and validation procedures
- Strong troubleshooting skills across authentication and directory services
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Understanding of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and directory synchronisation concepts
- Experience supporting privileged access models and security hardening
- Knowledge of endpoint migration and domain join processes
- Experience contributing to operational handover and support documentation
- Familiarity with cloud computing and hybrid IT infrastructure environments
