Work Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 17:00 and Friday 07:30 – 16:00

Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated trainee to develop a career in HGV maintenance, vehicle servicing and repair within a busy workshop environment, supporting experienced engineers and mechanics. If you’ve also worked in the following roles, we’d also like to hear from you: Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Fitter, LGV Technician, Plant Fitter, Workshop Assistant, HGV Mechanic, LGV Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Fitter, Heavy Goods Fitter, Heavy Goods Mechanic.

Duties

  • Assist with Maintenance and Repairs: Supporting servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs and LGVs
  • Carry out Inspections: Performing routine vehicle checks and basic diagnostics
  • Support Senior Mechanics: Assisting with complex mechanical and engineering repairs
  • Maintain Workshop Standards: Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe
  • Ensure Compliance: Following health and safety regulations and workshop procedures
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate documentation of work completed
  • Tool and Equipment Use: Using workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Continuous Learning: Developing mechanical knowledge and practical skills through training

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Genuine interest in vehicle mechanics, HGVs and LGVs
  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or understanding of vehicle systems
  • Strong work ethic with a positive and proactive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Apprentice trained or working towards a recognised qualification
  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence
