What is my role?
We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to join [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. In this role, you will oversee the month-end close and forecasting processes, as well as the preparation of management reporting. You will act as a strategic financial partner to the business.
Duties
- Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) and financial performance, reviewing variances and providing clear commentary to senior management.
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting to the parent company, in line with monthly close schedules.
- Analyse revenue, turnover, and cost allocations to maintain robust financial controls and transparency.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, including annual budgets, periodic reforecasts, and cash flow planning.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts, monitor liquidity, and manage working capital effectively.
- Oversee headcount reporting and ensure accurate integration with finance and HR systems.
- Develop and enhance management reports and dashboards (BI tools), translating financial data into actionable insights.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC submissions, ONS surveys, and other statutory reporting.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives across finance functions.
- Prepare monthly margin reports and lead P&L review meetings with business leaders.
- Exposure to audit processes and year-end statutory accounts will be an advantage.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior finance staff will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Making Tax Digital (MTD) and UK digital compliance requirements is must.
- Comfortable working in a cross-border environment, liaising with both UK and India teams will be an advantage.
Qualification and Skills
- Fully or part-qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA, AAT or equivalent) with solid technical accounting knowledge.
- Proven experience in a Finance Controller or senior finance role within a UK-regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP / IFRS, VAT, payroll, and corporation tax fundamentals.
- Experience with group reporting and multi-entity financial structures.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Xero, Sage, NetSuite, SAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset.
- Experience in cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Ability to implement and maintain robust financial controls and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills to present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience in process improvement, automation, and BI tools (e.g., Power BI) is highly desirable.
