About the Role
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Communications who will be responsible for developing and implementing a global PR and strategic communications plan for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], the world’s leading provider of trusted news, insight and analysis, reaching billions of people worldwide every day. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], this role will provide support across editorial and commercial operations and work in close partnership with senior leadership and internal stakeholders, as well as marketing, human resources, legal and the broader communications team.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Lead the development and delivery of internal and external communications strategies to meet business objectives; galvanize staff around shared goals; and amplify [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] position as the world’s leading provider of trusted news, insight and analysis and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences
- Develop and implement global crisis communication strategies to safeguard the organization’s reputation during high-stakes situations; can navigate local environments and foster relationships with media outlets and journalists to facilitate accurate and fair reporting during crisis situations
- Develop and execute global public relations plans related to key [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] initiatives; proactively secure media opportunities and appearances to position [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] executives as experts on industry issues and key topics impacting media; seek out opportunities to gain exposure for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] by building strategic relationships with key stakeholders across all media channels
- Participate as a member of the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Executive Committee and provide counsel, direction and regular communications materials to the President, Editor-in-Chief and others on the leadership team, as well as ad hoc support across the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] organization
- Oversee the creation of content across communications channels, including presentations, web pages (intranet and media center), reports, and social assets; oversee internal communications channels across the business, including town halls, executive communications, virtual meetings and video, ensuring materials are delivered to a consistently high standard
- Participate as a member of the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Communications leadership team to coordinate activities and strategies across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] and TR that build our brand reputation. Establish best practices and transparency across the Communications team and partner organizations such as HR, Legal and Marketing
- Lead a team to build and maintain a high-performance culture through effective performance management, communication and coaching
- Demonstrate progress and measure effectiveness of global communications plans

About You
- 10+ years communications and PR experience in a media organization or in an agency/in-house PR role focused on news
- Extensive global crisis management experience to adequately handle and mitigate multifaceted challenges spanning international boundaries in a dynamic media environment
- Proven track record in delivering measurable PR results at a senior level in a global setting
- Proven advisor to senior management, accustomed to giving high level advice with an ability to win credibility and influence internal stakeholders
- Solid external contacts and ability to skillfully navigate relationships with journalists, industry analysts and industry associations in the media
- Ability to build network of sources and thrive in a highly matrixed organization
- An outstanding, polished and confident communicator with excellent oral and written skills
- A strong and experienced people manager that is team-oriented with a genuine interest in sharing knowledge and building capability and talent
- Experience in delivering quality output while working under pressure
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of communications
- Previous experience as a journalist or reporter is considered a strong asset
