Occupational Health Nurse

This is a varied and rewarding role offering a blend of clinic‑based work and visiting client sites across Essex (Hadleigh), Dartford, and Lewisham. The role involves immunisations, vaccinations, phlebotomy, Fit for Work medicals, health screening, health surveillance, and pre-employment medicals. You will work autonomously while contributing to a supportive team, and must have a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.

The Vacancy

We are looking for a confident, compassionate, and motivated Occupational Health Nurse to join our expanding Occupational Health team. This is a varied and rewarding role offering a blend of clinic‑based work and visiting client sites across the region.

Location: Essex (Hadleigh), Dartford and Lewisham

Monday - Friday x40 Hours per week

The Role

As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering professional, evidence‑based occupational health services while building strong and trusted relationships with our clients. You will be involved in a wide range of occupational health activities, including:

  • Immunisations
  • Vaccinations
  • Phlebotomy (taking bloods)
  • Fit for Work / Fit for Job medicals
  • Health screening and health surveillance
  • New starter and pre‑employment medicals

You will work across clinic locations and client sites within Essex, Dartford, Lewisham and surrounding areas, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality clinical care in line with evidence‑based practice
  • Undertake IMS and vaccination programmes safely and confidently
  • Carry out phlebotomy and Fit for Work medical assessments
  • Attend multiple client sites as required
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
  • Report and manage incidents, near misses, and complaints in line with policy
  • Participate in audits and contribute to continuous service improvement
  • Engage positively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Work autonomously while contributing to a supportive and collaborative team
  • Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development

Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Proven experience in IMS and vaccination delivery
  • Competent in phlebotomy (taking bloods)
  • Experience undertaking Fit for Job / Fit for Work medicals
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using clinical systems
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time‑management skills

Desirable Experience

  • Occupational health experience
  • Health surveillance (e.g. spirometry, audiometry)
  • Travel health
  • Experience working under PGDs/WIs
  • Knowledge of the Green Book and National Immunisation Schedule
  • Strong understanding of informed consent and cold chain requirements
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
