Job Description

  • Job Title: Learning Mentor
  • Location: Based at Upton Vale Baptist Church, Torquay
  • Salary: £25,045 – £27,045 (pro rata)
  • Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) or part-time (24.5 hrs/week) term time
  • Contract: Permanent with 3-month probation
  • Start: 1st September 2026
  • Reporting to: Head of Centre

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: GCSE English and Maths (A*-C) essential; First Aid, counselling training desirable
  • Skills: Engaging young people, behaviour management, SEN understanding, communication, ICT skills
  • Experience: Working with challenging young people aged 11-16 in education/youth work setting
  • Christian lifestyle: Active Christian faith, commitment to spiritual development, willing to share faith
  • Additional: Enhanced DBS, eligibility to work in UK, driving licence desirable
