Specification Technologist
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 | Location: Tockwith, Yorkshire & the Humber

The Role
This role is designed as a development opportunity, offering structured training and the chance to progress your career within a technical department. As Specification Technologist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring products meet regulatory standards and customer expectations, while gaining hands-on exposure across all areas of the technical function.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the creation and management of artwork briefs for new and seasonal products
- Review and approve packaging artwork alongside senior technical staff
- Create, update, and maintain product specifications and labelling
- Ensure compliance with food regulations and customer requirements
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain and verify technical documentation
- Complete customer information requests (e.g. allergens, sustainability data)
- Assist with QA checks, audits, and scheduled inspections
- Produce reports on environmental conditions (e.g. temperature and humidity)
- Maintain technical documentation and develop new process resources
- Support complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and non-conformance tracking
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a food labelling, technical administration, or food production role
- A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field is desirable
- Keen to develop a long-term career within food technical/compliance
- Highly organised, process-driven and detail-oriented with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, whilst working in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive and analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
- Clear communication and collaborative approach
- Due to the location of this role the successful candidate must have a valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle
The Candidate
Ideally you will have experience in food labelling, technical administration, or food manufacturing/production. A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline would also be an advantage. You’ll be keen to develop a long-term career within food technical or compliance, with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
