This role can be based at either Bungay, Suffolk or Vauxhall, London. Regular travel to company sites is required.
Role Overview:
This newly created role will be responsible for owning and driving performance management across the organisation, alongside supporting learning and development, leadership capability, engagement, and recognition initiatives.
You will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of performance frameworks. Success in this role will directly impact the company's performance by embedding a culture of high achievement, engagement, and continuous development.
In this role, you will be the go-to expert on performance management. You will ensure managers are trained, capable, and held accountable for developing their teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Performance Management
- Own and drive the organisation's performance management framework
- Ensure managers consistently hold performance check-ins, goal-setting sessions, and meaningful development conversations
- Train and support managers to set SMART goals and manage performance effectively
- Confidently challenge managers and senior leaders where goals or performance practices are not aligned or effective
- Provide practical guidance and support to managers on performance, development, and engagement matters
- Develop resources, templates, and toolkits to help managers lead their teams effectively
- Monitor completion, quality, and impact of performance reviews across the business
- Maintain accurate performance data and reporting within HiBob HR system
- Identify high performers and support targeted development plans to maximise impact
Learning & Development
- Lead learning and development initiatives that support performance improvement and capability growth
- Identify training needs and organise programmes
- Monitor effectiveness of development initiatives
- Deliver training and guidance for managers to enhance leadership and performance management skills
- Hold managers accountable for developing their teams and delivering on performance objectives
Employee Engagement
- Lead initiatives to maintain high engagement and motivation levels
- Run engagement surveys, analyse results, and help managers implement action plans
- Monitor engagement trends and provide recommendations
Culture & Recognition
- Support initiatives that reinforce company values and high-performance behaviours
- Lead employee recognition programmes that celebrate achievement and contribution
- Encourage a culture of recognition across teams
What We're Looking For:
Essential
- Proven experience owning and delivering performance management processes
- Comfortable training managers and holding them accountable
- Confident giving constructive feedback at all levels
- Experience delivering learning and development initiatives
- Experience supporting or developing leadership capability
- Strong organisational, project management, and communication skills
- Passion for developing people and improving organisational performance
Desirable
- Experience using HiBob would be a strong advantage
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards)
- Experience supporting engagement or cultural initiatives
- Experience in a multi-team or complex business environment
