The Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] wishes to appoint a Library Information Officer who will be part of the Digital Learning Team. This role is the perfect opportunity for someone who has recently received a library qualification or for an information professional to (re)enter academic librarianship. The priorities include day-to-day management of the Document Supply Service, reading list support, and supporting open access requirements through the maintenance of the School’s institutional repository. The successful candidate will also contribute towards the shared enquiry desk service. The role offers hybrid working and training opportunities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Order and receive items for stock, keeping accurate records and liaising with Accounts for prompt payment of invoices and resolving issues.
  • Administer access and authentication to e-resources, especially specialist financial datasets, and resolve issues with external suppliers.
  • Contribute to (Monday to Saturday) staffing of the library’s enquiry desk, inbox and libchat, ensuring physical areas and bookshelves are tidy.
  • Monitor the library’s Open Access mailbox for enquiries and research outputs for deposit to the institutional repository, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of the Document Supply Service, processing requests and liaising with faculty, staff, students, and other institutions.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Vocational library qualification or relevant library experience (desirable)
  • Good communication skills and ability to address a variety of stakeholders.
  • Sound working knowledge of standard IT packages, systems and/or databases.
  • Experience of recording and maintaining electronic records of books and research publications (desirable)
  • Proactive approach to relationship development with colleagues.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills with ability to organise and prioritise.
  • Good team working skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Understanding of copyright, embargo and licensing issues in a library environment (desirable)
  • Experience in standard financial management processes.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
