Job Description

Cover Supervisors play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absence. Responsibilities include following pre-set lesson plans, managing behaviour, and supporting pupils to remain focused and on task. Confidence, consistency, and clear communication are essential to maintaining a positive learning environment.

  • Supervises lessons using pre-prepared work and guidance.
  • Manages classroom behaviour and engagement.
  • Supports pupils during independent learning tasks.
  • Reports feedback and concerns to teaching staff.

Desired Experience + Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a secondary classroom environment (cover supervision or teaching assistant role)
  • Excellent behaviour‑management skills and confident presence in front of a class
  • Flexible, calm under pressure and able to step into different subject areas at short notice
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
