Detention Custody Officer/International Immigration Removals

Job Description

Working as a DCO within our Gatwick team means that you will be escorting immigration returnees within the UK and flying internationally to their country of origin. This will mean you are responsible for maintaining high standards of safety and security for those being removed from the UK, whilst promoting their welfare and decency.

Key Requirements

• You are a British passport holder.
• You hold a full and valid UK manual driving licence, held for at least 12 months.
• Over the age of 21.
• If you have points, it must be 6 or less on your licence.
• You have lived in the UK continuously for the past 5 years and not spent any single period of more than 3 consecutive months outside the UK during this time.
• You have strong English and maths skills, equivalent to GCSE level, with the ability to produce clear written reports.
• You are physically fit and capable of meeting the demands of the role.
• You are willing and able to receive a Yellow Fever vaccination.

Training

Once you have passed selection and vetting, you'll complete a paid 4-week initial training course (ITC) locally, followed by a residential programme on physical restraint and use of force. Continued development over 12 months leads to an accredited Level 3 apprenticeship in Detention and Custody.
