We're looking for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to oversee maintenance and monitoring of mechanical equipment within the prison while supporting a culture of rehabilitation at HMP Millsike.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and monitoring of all mechanical equipment, ensuring schedules and programmes are followed.
  • Manage onsite teams, including staff and prisoners, ensuring correct staffing levels and ongoing development.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (SHE) policies, permit to work systems, and risk management procedures.
  • Conduct quality audits, site inspections, and maintain accurate documentation including asset registers and service records.
  • Liaise with clients, engineers, and subcontractors while supporting planned preventative maintenance and investigating infrastructure issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent with NVQ Level 3 in multi-skilled engineering and C&G/BTEC Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering.
  • Certifications: IOSH (or equivalent), C&G 2079 F Gas (or equivalent), HVAC or gas qualification, C&G 2391/2 18th Edition IEE Regulations.
  • Basic to intermediate IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook) with strong communication and organisational abilities.
  • Must meet vetting requirements: UK residency, right to work, Enhanced DBS, and CTC clearance.
