This role is for a Special Risk Site Manager based in the Mobile Region, UK. Full-time, on-site position with closing date 2 June 2026.

Job Description

We are part of the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group. We design, install, and maintain all types of fire extinguishing systems and fire detection systems. The Special Risk Site Manager would be part of the Special Risk department and report to Phil Watkins, Special Risk Associate Director. This role is currently based in Elsmere Port, but the location will change with new projects anywhere in the UK.

Duties

  • Directly responsible to the Project Manager and Special Risk Team Associate Director.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical fire protection / gas suppression / fire detection systems.
  • Oversee site installation sub-contractors through site inspections, safe working, method statements, risk assessments, work permits, progress, adherence to construction drawings.
  • Delivery of regular site safety toolbox talks to site team.
  • Regular liaison with client representatives at site level including progress meetings, safety meetings, inspections, planning, snagging.
  • Regular liaison with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] project team members and management.
  • Carrying out regular installation snagging inspections and completion of snagging paperwork.
  • Completion of regular safety checks on site equipment and checklists.
  • Work remotely from sites within the UK.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Site Manager of fire alarm and detection system projects or other electrically based systems, ideally within industrial construction sector.
  • Competent in MS Outlook and MS Office.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical installation practices and methods.
  • Good working knowledge of fire detection products and alarm system design, commissioning and cause and effect testing.
  • Good working knowledge of BS5839:2017.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • Good appreciation of construction health and safety protocols.
  • Clean UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of BS6266:2011, BS7273, BS8519:2020.
  • Good working knowledge of IEE 18th Edition.
  • Good working knowledge of ATEX regulations and mechanical water based fire protection systems.
  • Experience in cable insulation resistance testing.
  • Basic awareness of mechanical water based and gas based fire suppression systems.

Skills and Behaviours

  • Ability to effectively plan own and others work.
  • Ability to travel to sites within the UK and stay away from home when required.
