HMP Millsike - General Maintenance Operative

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Maintenance Engineer (Building Services) for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] at HMP Millsike, York. Full-time, on-site role in a 24/7 operational environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks in line with Company Safety Policy, Procedures, Codes of Practice, NR and Statutory Regulations, ensuring compliance with Permit to Work Systems.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Helpdesk tasks to ensure full contract compliance while maintaining SHE standards.
  • Liaise with engineers and subcontractors and develop a detailed understanding of site engineering services and contractual requirements.
  • Accurately complete work-related documentation, coordinate connections to plant/systems, and effectively use O&M manuals and quality procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, hygiene, fire regulations and safe systems of work within a 24-hour operational environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification such as Apprenticeship (or equivalent), NVQ Level 3 in multi-skilled engineering, or C&G/BTEC Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering (Parts 1, 2 and 3).
  • Certifications such as IOSH (or equivalent), C&G 2079 F Gas, HVAC/gas qualification, or C&G 2391/2 18th Edition IEE Regulations.
  • Proven experience in maintenance within a large, complex environment, with strong knowledge of building services systems (heating, ventilation, electrical, refrigeration and public health).
  • Basic to intermediate IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) with strong communication and documentation abilities.
  • Must meet vetting and eligibility requirements including UK residency, right to work, Enhanced DBS and CTC clearance.
